The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, April 6
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Kevin Baxter was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Bret Myers from Queens was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets March 28-April 3, the League announced today.
Baxter, a senior from Columbia, S.C., finished first in the men's 110-meter hurdles last Saturday at the VertKlasse Meeeting at Dick Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C. Baxter, a two-time NCAA Division II All-American in the event (2014-15), clocked in at 14.13 seconds. The time ranks seventh-best this year in the nation and provisionally qualifies him for nationals for the fourth straight season. Baxter was also part of Lenoir-Rhyne's 400-meter relay squad which placed seventh at the meet with a time of 42.91 seconds. The honor marks his first Runner of the Week honor this season.
Myers took first place in the pole vault at the Wofford Terrier Relays with a mark of 4.80 meters bettering his jump from earlier this season. His jump was a school record and it matched the meet record. Additionally, it was an NCAA qualifying jump. He currently tops the SAC in the event and ranks 23rd in the nation.
