ROCK HILL, S.C. – The SAC on Wednesday announced its weekly track and field awards for results ranging March 24-30, honoring one Queens and thee Wingate student-athletes.
SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week | Johannes Riemann, Queens
Riemann ran a pair of events at last weekend's Winthrop invitational, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles and 15th in the 400-meter hurdles. He completed the 110-meter event in a time of 14.93, and his 400-meter hurdles mark of 58.62 established a new school record.
SAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week | Austin Greeson, Wingate
Greeson broke the Wingate record in the men's javelin throw at Saturday's Winthrop Invitational, posting a distance of 45.21 meters. It was the freshman's first competition in the javelin at the college level. He also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and the 800-meter run at the event.
SAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week | Alyssa Johnson, Wingate
Johnson finished second overall and was the top Division II performer in the steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 11:21.60, marking a new Wingate record.
SAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week | Christina Matheny, Wingate
Matheny was the top Division II finisher at the Winthrop Invitational, compiling 4002 points. She placed fifth overall in the women's heptathlon, and her heptathlon long jump of 5.12 meters was the event's second best.
