Three SAC tennis programs have been named All-Academic Teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and 17 individual student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the organization announced this week.

Wingate Defeated by Armstrong in NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship

The No. 1-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University men's tennis team defeated Wingate 5-0 Monday to advance to the Southeast Region final of the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship at Bacon Park.

Wingate Tops Mount Olive in NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament

The eighth-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs defeated the ninth-seeded Trojans of Mount Olive College 5-3 in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Southeast Regionals Sunday afternoon. Wingate wins its first-ever NCAA Tournament match, improving to 19-6 on the year.

After winning last weekend's SAC Championships to earn automatic bids to the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships, the Wingate men's and women's teams learned their opponents for the first round of the Southeast Region Championship on Tuesday night.
