The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the week of Sept. 10 through Sept. 16. Lincoln Memorial's Felipe De Sousa was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexander Langer was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
A junior midfielder from Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, De Sousa aided both Railsplitter goals in their 2-1 double overtime defeat of King. He scored the first goal off of a free kick in the seventh minute, and assisted on the golden goal in the 105th minute to earn the victory. This is De Sousa's first Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Langer, a native of Stuttgart, Germany, collected two saves to preserve the Bears' 1-0 victory over conference foe, Carson-Newman. Each of the junior's saves was of the diving variety to earn his first career shutout. This is Langer's first Defensive Player of the Week award this season.
