Six SAC Soccer Teams Earn Spots in First NCAA Regional Rankings
A total of six SAC soccer programs – three men's and three women's – have been ranked in the season's first NCAA Southeast Region poll, the association has announced.
INDIANAPOLIS – A total of six SAC soccer programs – three men's and three women's – have been ranked in the season's first NCAA Southeast Region poll, the association has announced.
The regional rankings are selected by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Committees, and are the official polls used in the championship selection process.
In the men's poll, Mars Hill is the highest-ranked SAC team at No. 3. The Lions are 11-2-1 overall and currently lead the conference standings at 6-1 in league matches.
MHC was also ranked No. 18 in this week's NSCAA national poll.
Wingate, which is 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the SAC, is No. 5 in the poll, while Lincoln Memorial is No. 8.
LMU is currently 8-3-1 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
In the women's poll, Lenoir-Rhyne leads all SAC teams with a No. 3 ranking in the southeast region. The Bears have been on a tear lately, winning nine-straight matches to move up to No. 19 in the NSCAA national rankings.
L-R is 12-1 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the SAC.
Just behind the Bears in the southeast region poll is Wingate at No. 4. The Bulldogs, winners of eight straight, are 11-1-1 overall and 6-1 in the league.
Finally, Tusculum is No. 7 in the southeast region rankings. The Pioneers are currently second in the SAC standings at 6-1-1, and are 11-2-2 overall.
Regional rankings will be released each week until championship selections.
