SAC Announces Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
Mars Hill attacker Jimmy McBride, Wingate goalkeeper Michael Connor and Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Alex Squires have been voted as the SAC Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mars Hill attacker Jimmy McBride, Wingate goalkeeper Michael Connor and Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Alex Squires have been voted as the SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week.
SAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week | Jimmy McBride, Mars Hill
McBride totaled 11 goals and three assists last week, leading Mars Hill to a pair of wins over Lees-McRae and Coker. He finished with four goals and an assist in Wednesday's 19-4 win at victory at Lees-McRae, then went for seven goals and two assists in Saturday's 17-7 league win over Coker.
The junior also added four ground balls over the two matches. He ranks second in the SAC with 37 goals.
SAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week | Michael Connor, Wingate
Connor and the Wingate defense held Tusculum to a season-low three goals on Saturday in a 15-3 Bulldogs win. Connor made 11 saves in the contest, stopping 78.6-percent of TC's shots-on-goal. He also picked up four ground balls.
Connor's 55.6-percent save percentage and 9.62 goals-against average both rank fourth in the conference.
SAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week | Alex Squires, Lenoir-Rhyne
Squires made 12 saves on Saturday against Catawba, helping guide Lenoir-Rhyne to a 14-8 victory that clinched a share of the SAC regular-season title.
Squires made saves on 60-percent of Catawba's shots-on-goal, and added one ground ball. He leads the SAC in save percentage at 59.9.
