Limestone's Gahlert Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-American in Men's Basketball
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior forward Ben Gahlert (Nuremberg, Germany) of the Limestone University men's basketball team has been named to the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-American Second Team as announced by the association today.
The 2022-23 Academic All-American® Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Gahlert, who is majoring in General Business and Business Marketing. Gahlert has maintained a 4.0 GPA at Limestone and is a member of the Honors Program where he is expected to graduate Summa Cum Laude.
On the court, Gahlert has been a standout athlete for the Saints basketball program and their push for the playoffs. The junior from Germany leads the Blue and Gold in scoring with 14.5 points per game while sitting in third in the South Atlantic Conference with a 46.1% clip from three-point range. Gahlert also ranks in the top-20 in rebounds per game (6.2) and field goal percentage (47.8). He was also able to collect his 1,000th career point earlier this season.
The Division II team boasted a 3.85 average GPA with the first team checking in at 3.88
The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America program.
