Three South Atlantic Conference Schools Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Men's Basketball Poll
The South Atlantic Conference earned three of the top four spots in the first NCAA Southeast Region Men’s Basketball poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 14).
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference earned three of the top four spots in the first NCAA Southeast Region Men's Basketball poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 14). Lincoln Memorial earned the No. 1 spot in the poll, followed by Queens at No. 2 and Carson-Newman came in at No. 4.
In addition to the three SAC schools ranked in this week's poll, there are four schools from the Peach Belt and three from Conference Carolinas.
The Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial entered the ranking with a 22-1 overall record and are ranked No. 1 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) national poll. The Railsplitters have won 12 straight games. Their lone loss of the season came on Dec. 19 against Northwest Missouri State, who is ranked No.1 in the Central region.
The Royals of Queens have an overall record of 23-1 and are ranked No.2 in the latest NABC national poll. The Royals have won seven straight games, with their lone loss of the year being a 73-72 decision against Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 13.
The Carson-Newman Eagles come into the ranking with an overall record of 19-5.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
