SAC Lands Four on Daktronics Men’s Basketball All-Region Team
Four men’s basketball players from the SAC have been selected to the 2014 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team, led by the region’s Player of the Year Vincent Bailey of Lincoln Memorial.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Four men's basketball players from the SAC have been selected to the 2014 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team, led by the region's Player of the Year Vincent Bailey of Lincoln Memorial.
Bailey joins Anderson's Chandler Hash and Carson-Newman's Antoine Davis on the All-Region First Team, while Carson-Newman's Ishmael Sanders was voted to the Second Team.
Bailey is averaging 21.6 points and 10.1 rebounds this season, leading LMU to both the SAC's regular-season and tournament championships, and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Championship southeast regional. The SAC Player of the Year is the conference's second-leading scorer and its top rebounder.
Hash currently leads the SAC and ranks fifth in the nation in scoring, averaging 24.4 points per game. He's also third in the nation with 228 made free throws for Anderson, which reached the finals of the SAC Championship and earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament.
Davis is averaging 19.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and shooting 46.7-percent from long range for Carson-Newman, which is also NCAA Tournament bound.
His teammate Sanders, meanwhile, is third in the SAC in scoring at 20 per game and ranks second in the league with 55 steals.
