Three SAC Basketball Players Selected to DII Bulletin All-America Team
Division II Bulletin has released its 2012-13 men’s and women’s basketball All-America Teams, with three student-athletes from the SAC earning recognition from the publication.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Division II Bulletin has released its 2012-13 men's and women's basketball All-America Teams, with three student-athletes from the SAC earning recognition from the publication.
On the DII Bulletin women's All-America Team, Anderson guard Alissa Diaz and Newberry forward Haylee Lepaio received Honorable Mention distinctions. Lepaio and Diaz were the SAC's top two scorers this season, with Lepaio averaging 18.1 points per game and Diaz 17.1 points per game.
Diaz was selected as the SAC Player of the Year and the SAC Tournament MVP, while Lepaio was a member of the All-Conference First Team. In addition to their scoring numbers, Lepaio finished second in the conference in rebounding at nine per game, while Diaz ranked third in free-throw shooting at 83.3-percent.
On the men's side, Carson-Newman forward Antoine Davis also earned an Honorable Mention selection from DII Bulletin. The SAC Player of the Year averaged a conference-best 18.7 points per game for the Eagles, who reached the semifinal round of the SAC Tournament.
Davis shot 50.5-percent overall and 46.1-percent from long range this season while also averaging six rebounds per game.
