Brevard?s Whitson, Mars Hill?s Sanders named Honorable Mention
PINEHURST, N.C. -- Tusculum College's Kyle Moore has been named to the Division II Basketball Bulletin All-America Third Team, while Brevard College's Jonathan Whitson and Mars Hill College's Danny Sanders were named Honorable Mention
Moore, a senior guard Gainesville, Fla., earns his second All-America accolade this season. Earlier this month, he was named to the Daktronics NCAA II All-America Second Team.
Moore has just returned from Springfield, Mass. and the NCAA II All-Star Game, where he garnered co-most valuable player honors, while leading the West All-Stars to a 131-125 overtime victory over the East this past Friday night at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. In the All-Star Game, Moore poured in 21 points, shooting 8-for-11 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from three-point territory. He also dished out five assists and recorded a pair of blocked shots.
The 6-3, 190-pound Buchholz High School graduate, was named the 2010 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year for a second straight season as he led the league in scoring in consecutive years, averaging 24.8 points per game, which is third in NCAA Division II and fifth nationally for all NCAA divisions. Moore's scoring average is the second highest in league history and fifth in school history.
He has also been named to two All-Region teams this year. He was selected to the Daktronics NCAA II All-Southeast Region First Team, while also garnering NABC All-District First Team accolades. This marks the second year in a row that Moore has been recognized by these two organizations.
