Newberry Earns No. 2 Seed in NCAA Baseball Southeast Regional
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee announced its field of 56 teams that will participate in the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship on Sunday (May 14). Newberry will represent the South Atlantic Conference in the double-elimination tournament, which will be held at eight regional sites May 18-21.
The 2023 SAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Wolves earned the No. 2 seed.
Joining Newberry are North Greenville at No. 1, Belmont Abbey at No. 3, Mount Olive at No. 4, Georgia Southwestern at No. 5, Columbus State at No. 6, and UNC Pembroke at No. 7.
The Southeast Regional Tournament will be played at two sites, North Greenville University, and Newberry College. The Wolves will host Belmont Abbey, Columbus State, and UNC Pembroke, while North Greenville will play host to Mount Olive and Georgia Southwestern.
The winning teams will advance to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional on May 26-27, with the winners of the eight super regionals advancing to the finals of the 2023 NCAA DII Baseball Championship, which will take place at the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, N.C., June 3-10.
