10 SAC Baseball Players Named to NCBWA All-Region Team
10 student-athletes from the SAC have earned spots on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-Southeast Region Team, including a pair of first-team selections from Catawba.
PEMBROKE, N.C. – 10 student-athletes from the SAC have earned spots on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-Southeast Region Team, including a pair of first-team selections from Catawba.
Representing the Indians on the First Team were first baseman Chris Dula and starting pitcher Nick Lomascolo. Last week, Dula was named the Southeast Region Player of the Year by Daktronics, while Lomascolo has been selected as a Tino Martinez Award Semifinalist.
Dula earned SAC Player of the Year honors earlier this spring, and Lomascolo was the conference's Pitcher of the Year. Dula hit .402 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI, while Lomascolo won 10 games with an ERA of 2.14 and 123 strikeouts.
Four SAC players were named to the NCBWA All-Region Second Team – Wingate starting pitcher Olen Little, Newberry starter Jonathan Rosenberger, Newberry third baseman Ryan Crammer and Catawba outfielder Keaton Hawks.
The SAC also had four third-team selections in Wingate starter T.J. Rinoski, Tusculum starter Taylor Rakes, Tusculum reliever John-Austin Shepard and Newberry first baseman Albert Baur.
Columbus State utility player Cameron Scott was selected as the NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Year, UNC Pembroke's Ethan Cater was named the region's Pitcher of the Year, and USC Aiken's Kenny Thomas was picked as Coach of the Year.
