COLUMBUS, Ga. – Seven SAC baseball players have been named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team, led by regional Player of the Year Chris Dula of Catawba.
Dula - the SAC Player of the Year - hit a conference-best .402 this season with 14 home runs, currently the fifth-highest total in the nation. The first baseman also finished tied for the conference lead in RBI with 54, and led the league in both on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
Joining Dula on the All-Southeast Region First Team is Catawba pitcher Nick Lomascolo, who earlier this week was named a finalist for the Tino Martinez Award. Lomascolo was selected as the SAC Pitcher of the Year after winning 10 games and leading the nation with 123 strikeouts. He also ranked fourth in the conference with a 2.14 ERA.
Five more SAC players were named to the All-Region Second Team, including two apiece from Wingate and Tusculum.
Earning spots on the team from Wingate were outfielder Thomas Spitz and starting pitcher Olen Little, while starter Taylor Rakes and reliever John-Austin Shepard represented Tusculum.
Rounding out the SAC's representation on the team was Catawba second baseman Julio Zubillaga.
