Catawba’s Ryan Query Named MVP Of Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Catawba College senior catcher Ryan Query, who hit four home runs in six games, was named Most Valuable Player of the 2009 Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament, league officials Monday.
Query (Kannapolis,NC/Brown) hit .500 during the tournament and drove in seven runs. He was one of eight members of the championship Indians team named to the All-Tournament team. He is joined by teammates Craige Lyerly, Chris Ahearn, Trevor Mullins, Kevin McMillan, Tim Holmes, Cameron White and Blake Ketner. McMillan hit .478 with a tournament-high 10 RBI. Lyerly, the SAC Co-Player of the Year, hit .483 with a tournament-best 21 total bases. Kenter won two games in the tournament and pitched a tournament-high 13.2 innings.

Tournament runner-up Tusculum College placed four on the All-Tournament team. Pitcher Max Keleher, who went 1-0 in two appearances with a tournament-high 11 strikeouts, is joined by Nate Grabowski, Jared Richmond and Sean Cotten, who hit three home runs in the tournament.
Newberry College is represented by second baseman Jovan Rohena, who hit .500 with a home run and five RBI and Thomas Berryhill, who pitched a win over Mars Hill with seven strikeouts and hit .308 at the plate.
Mars Hill College's designated hitter Brian Williams, who had a pair of home runs for the Lions, rounds out the All-Tournament Team.
