The South Atlantic Conference and AstroTurf Present Senior Spotlights Featuring Lincoln Memorial Baseball, Golf and Tennis
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – In light of the recent events of the COVID-19 pandemic that canceled the remainder of the 2020 South Atlantic Conference spring sports seasons, the SAC along with its corporate partner AstroTurf, will be presenting the SAC AstroTurf Senior Spotlights. These highlights will showcase the spring sports teams at each of our 12 institutions and will give fans a brief overview of the team's shortened season, while highlighting the 2020 senior student-athletes on each team.
We continue our AstroTurf Senior Spotlights with the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters and the baseball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's tennis teams.
BASEBALL
The Lincoln Memorial baseball team had won four of its last five games prior to the abrupt season-ending, finishing the year with a record of 10-14 overall, going 3-6 in SAC play. The Railplitters were coming off of their first SAC weekend series victory of 2020, and they were riding high as they routed visiting Kentucky State in a non-conference doubleheader March 11. Those two home wins came on the heels of an impressive Saturday doubleheader sweep of Carson-Newman on March 7.
Earlier in the year in non-conference action, the Railsplitters had defeated Claflin University (13-10) on the road and earned home wins over Ohio Valley (3-2 and 6-2), King (18-9) and Lee (9-8).
Several Railsplitter seniors were impressive throughout their LMU careers and continued to move up the program's all-time lists, including infielder standout Tyler Adams. He ended the season as the Railsplitters' all-time leader in doubles (52), while ranking third in career total bases (346), fourth in home runs (28), fifth in runs scored (158), tied for fifth in hits (206) and sixth in RBI (145).
Outfielder Nate Stinson moved into seventh place in career doubles (40) and is now tied for ninth in hits (187). Behind the dish, Henry Moore has caught 28 base runners attempting to steal, the seventh-most in school history, as Dalton Dedas is now tied for ninth in that category with 25 caught stealing.
Senior outfielder Brent Richey had already tallied seven home runs this year, which ranked him 16th among all Division II baseball players and had scored 30 runs to rank eighth nationally.
Along with Adams, Stinson, Moore, Dedas, and Richey, LMU's 2020 senior class featured right-handed pitcher Hudson Widrig, left-handed hurler Hooper Mills, redshirt senior infielder Zuriel Collins and redshirt senior first baseman Grady Wright.

The Lincoln Memorial women's golf program placed in the top-10 in four of its six tournaments during the 2019-20 season, including three-straight, top-five finishes last September at the StateFarm Intercollegiate with a fourth-place finish, Battle for Royalty with a fifth-place finish, and the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate with another fifth-place finish.
The Railsplitters opened their spring part of the action with an eighth-place finish at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in St. Augustine, Fla. and closed the season at the Battle for Hilton Head with a 15th-place finish.

Campbell posted eight top-25 finishes throughout her career as a Railsplitter golfer.
Sneed compiled 10 top-25 finishes throughout her tenure in Harrogate for Lincoln Memorial.

MEN'S GOLF
The Railsplitter men's golf program started out the 2019-20 fall portion of their season with their highest finish of 12th place at the Cougar Invitational at the tail end of September. Out of their next four matches, the Railsplitters then got back on track with a tournament victory at the State Farm Intercollege & SAC Preview, followed by a third-place finish in Palm Harbor, Fla., at the Copperhead Championship. The Railsplitters then closed the month of October with a second-place finish at the Queens Invitational and finished up with a tournament win at the South Region Review for the fall stint.
LMU started the spring leg of play with a second-place mark at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in St. Augustine, Fla. Two weeks later, the Railsplitters marked their first tournament title at the Battle at Hilton Head by a 29-stroke margin. Junior Dan Bradbury posted a career-high and second-best program mark through 54 holes to notch a 13-under score (203) to lead the way for the Railsplitters.
The men's Railsplitter golf team has five seniors who have finished their careers for LMU.
Harry Boyle had 22 top-25 finishes over the past four years for the Railsplitters. Of those, 15 were marked in the top-10, six of which were in the top-five and a tournament victory.
Andrew Briggs posted seven top-25 finishes and three in the top 10 for LMU.
Eli Cox marked four top-25 placements and one in the top-10.
Brady Davis totaled nine top-25 marks and three were in the top-15.
Tyler Harvey graduated in December from the Railsplitter golf program and compiled eight-total top-25 placements for the Railsplitters.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
The LMU women's tennis team won 10 of its 12 matches during 2019-20, and was riding a three-match win streak, earning victories in seven of its last eight matches before the cancelation of all spring sports. The Railsplitters had won their first two SAC matches of the season and were one of just four undefeated teams in league play.
Following a 7-0 road rout of King on March 4, LMU began conference action with a 5-2 win over visiting Catawba. In what would be their final competition of the season, the Railsplitters topped Carson-Newman 4-3 on the road, behind sophomore Amanda Dahlstrom's match-clinching 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Propelled by junior Kristin Vogel's unbeaten 11-0 singles record, the Railsplitters had five different players with winning singles records. Senior Kiersten Waugh and sophomore Amanda Dahlstrom were both 8-4 in singles action, while sophomore Claudia Rodriguez went an impressive 9-2. Junior Julia Valls was 7-5 in singles play, while the tandem of Vogel and sophomore Samantha Hogan held the best doubles record at 8-2 with an 8-1 mark at the No. 3 spot.
Senior Johanna Delisse led the team playing at the top singles spot and at No. 1 doubles with Valls. Waugh and Delisse were joined by fellow senior Laurel Tipps, who served as Lincoln Memorial University Student Government Association president and was an executive member of the Lincoln Activities Board (LAB).

MEN'S TENNIS
The LMU men's tennis team closed out their shortened 2020 campaign on a high note, winning its last three consecutive matches, including a pair of thrilling 4-3 SAC victories over Catawba and Carson-Newman. Despite their 4-8 overall record, the Railsplitters were one of only three unbeaten league teams.
On Wednesday, March 4, the Railsplitters picked up a 6-1 road win at King before taking down the visiting Catawba Indians on March 7 with a match-clinching singles victory at the No. 4 spot by sophomore Sebastian Colla. The following Wednesday, March 11, LMU outlasted the host Eagles in dramatic fashion in what would be the season finale. Fittingly, senior Jake Tuchmann provided the match-clinching win at No. 5 singles as he worked his opponent to a 6-3, 6-3 triumph to go out on top.
Tuchmann, who went 8-1 in singles play and 6-6 in doubles action, was not the only Railsplitter to have a fantastic senior season as classmate Xavier Marti enjoyed an undefeated singles record at 11-0, and went 4-0 at both No. 3 and No. 4 singles, not to mention winning a pair of matches at No. 2 singles and earning a victory at the top spot. Tuchmann had an unblemished 4-0 record at No. 6 singles and recorded wins at both the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions.
