The South Atlantic Conference and AstroTurf Present Senior Spotlights Featuring Coker Softball, Golf and Track & Field
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – In light of the recent events of the COVID-19 pandemic that canceled the remainder of the 2020 South Atlantic Conference spring sports seasons, the SAC along with its corporate partner AstroTurf, will be presenting the SAC AstroTurf Senior Spotlights. These highlights will showcase the spring sports teams at each of our 12 institutions and will give fans a brief overview of the team's shortened season, while highlighting the 2020 senior student-athletes on each team.
We continue our AstroTurf Senior Spotlights with the Coker University Cobras and the softball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's track & field teams.
SOFTBALL
The Coker University softball team ended the season with an overall record of 18-7 and a 3-1 record in conference play under head coach Travis McCall. The Cobras had a nine-game win streak before falling to No. 21 Valdosta St. The team started off conference play with doubleheader sweep over Queens.
The team had six seniors in Anna Gluhosky, Christine Carver, Makayla Shore, Nikki Linthicum, Hannah Goodman, and Lilli Otten.
Gluhosky played in 21 games batting .182, recording nine runs and also driving in four runs. During her career, she recorded 83 runs, 51 RBIs, and seven stolen bases. For her career, she played in 161 games and is a career .251 hitter. She totaled 108 hits, 21 doubles, five triples, three home runs, 51 runs batted in, seven stolen bases and 83 runs scored.
Carver made 12 starts on the season with seven wins and 72 strikeouts through 68.2 innings. Throughout her career, she was named SAC Pitcher of the Week four times and earned the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week award once. Carver was an All-SAC first team selection and SAC All-Tournament team pick during her sophomore year. For her career, she made 102 appearances including 70 starts. She owns a career record of 43-23, with seven saves in 421.1 innings pitched. She struck out 373 batters and owned a 2.11 career earned run average.
Shore did not play this season due to injury. Throughout her career Shore played in 98 games, hitting .194. She totaled seven doubles, five home runs, 25 runs batted, two stolen bases and 29 runs scored.
Linthicum did not play this season due to injury. In her career, she made 62 appearances with 20 starts. She collected a 14-6 record, seven saves and 95 strikeouts in 145.2 innings.
Otten played in 16 games batting .244 this season. She recording five runs and four RBIs. She appeared in 92 games in her career, totaling 46 hits including 11 doubles and one home run. Otten also drove in 19 runs, stole one base and scored 21 runs on her way to being a career .227 hitter.
Goodman played in 24 games batting .250 recording six runs and five runs batted in this season. Throughout her four years, she played in 138 games totaling 68 hits batting .235 with eight doubles, two triples, three home runs, 47 runs batted in, six stolen bases and 35 runs scored.

WOMEN'S GOLF
The Cobra women's golf team competed in six tournaments during the 2019-20 campaign. Alicia Fajardo and Makayla Barr were the two senior leaders for first-year head coach Sam Stark's squad.
Fajardo played in all six tournaments as a senior. She set the Coker record for the lowest score in a single round of play at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on Oct. 8 with a score of 70 (-2). Fajardo won her first collegiate invitational at Coker by taking the Converse Spring Invite on Feb. 18 after carding a 153 (+9). That performance earned her the SAC AstroTurf Female Golfer of the Week.
Barr joined the women's golf team after spending four seasons as a member of the women's soccer program. Barr participated in the Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate and Converse Spring Invite.

MEN'S GOLF
The Cobra men's golf team competed in seven tournaments during the 2019-20 season. Coker featured one senior in Nicholas Beiers, alongside four freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior.
Beiers played in four tournaments during his senior season. At the Hurricane Invitational (Feb. 25), he turned in a card of 76 (+4) at the Doublegate Country Club. In his final collegiate event, he led the Cobras with a total score of 148 (+4) at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate on March 3 at the Green Valley Country Club.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Cobra women's track and field team competed in six meets during the 2019-20 season. Coach Pete Early's squad featured three senior leaders; Caterra Barkins, Asante Rice and Tiffany Taylor.
Barkins set four different Coker school records during her career. She broke the discus throw record three different times, with a distance of 37.23 meters finishing as her best total. At the 2020 SAC Indoor Championship, she set a seasonal best in the weight throw with a heave of 11.36 meters.
Rice recorded 11 top-ten finishes in her career with the Cobras. Her freshman year, she won the 100-meter hurdles at the SAC Championship, running a time of 14.79 seconds, also setting a Coker record.
Taylor has broken the Coker shot put record three different times during the 2020 season. The final record was broken at the South Carolina Invitational on Feb. 8 with a distance of 11.24 meters.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Cobra men's track and field team competed in six meets during the 2019-20 season. Coach Pete Early's squad featured six seniors, who helped lead the team to a seventh place finish at the 2020 SAC Indoor Championship.
Dre Litsey competed in five meets during his senior season. He had a 6.25 meter leap in the long jump and 1.83 meter jump in the high jump at the Gamecock Opener. Litsey set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.28 seconds and also ran a 10.20 second in the 60-meter hurdles at the SAC Indoor Championship. He finished his career with nine top-ten finishes.
Kamian McClain did not compete in any meets during his senior season. He recorded nine top-10 finishes in his career.
Tony McElveen Jr. set three new Coker school records during 2020. The first came at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic where he finished with a time of 6.87 seconds in the 60-meter dash. He set two Coker school records at the BU Valentine Meet with a 6.84 second mark in the 60-meter dash and a 21.83 second finish in the 200-meter dash. He came in fourth place in the 60-meter at the SAC Indoor Championship with a time of 6.88 seconds.
Will Mosley competed in five meets during his senior year. Two of his notable finishes were a time of 2:05.56 in the 800-meter run at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic, and a 51.13 second finish in the 400-meter dash at the South Carolina Invitational.
Jarrel Mumford ran in three meets during his senior campaign. Mumford ran a time of 22.92 seconds in the 200-meter dash at the BU Valentine Meet, and a time of 7.05 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the SAC Indoor Championship.
