Christian Stryker Named South Atlantic Conference Director of Strategic Communications
ROCK HILL, S.C. – South Atlantic Conference Commissioner, Patrick Britz, is pleased to announce the addition of Christian Stryker as the SAC Director of Strategic Communications. Stryker will begin his new role on January 16, 2018.
"We're thrilled to welcome Christian to the SAC office staff, and believe he will be a great addition to the conference office," said Britz. "He brings a great deal of experience to our office and I have no doubt will be a good steward to the Sports Information Directors and other administrators, as well as the student-athletes and coaches at our member institutions."
Stryker will be responsible for coordinating the SAC's media and public relations efforts, in addition to expanding the conference's digital and social media presence, and producing league publications. Stryker will also assist in enhancing the SAC's marketing and branding strategies, will serve as the sport administrator for baseball and track and field, and will be the liaison for the conference Faculty Athletic Representative and Athletic Trainer committees.
Prior to joining the SAC office, Stryker spent 13 years at Coker College serving in a variety of roles, including most recently as the College's Senior Associate Director of Athletics, where he oversaw athletic fundraising, athletic media relations and coordinated the athletic department's marketing and promotions. He had served as Coker's Sports Information Director since the fall of 2005, and in July of 2013 he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. Prior to being SID, Stryker was an Admissions Counselor at Coker.
He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Omicron Delta Kappa. Stryker served as a member of the NCAA Division II National Baseball Committee from 2009-2012, overseeing the Southeast Region. He also served on the NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Regional Advisory Committee and on the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Southeast Regional Advisory Committee.
Currently, he serves on the NCAA Division II National Men's Golf Committee, overseeing the South and Southeast Regions.
In addition to his SID duties at Coker, Stryker has also served as the Director of Athletic Fundraising (2006-09), Director of Media Relations and Sports Information (2009-11) and Director of Event Administration (2012-13).
In January 2016, Stryker was one of just 23 senior-level college athletic administrators from Divisions I, II and III selected to participate in the NCAA Pathway Program. The Pathway Program is a yearlong intensive, experiential learning opportunity.
He is a 2004 graduate of Coker College and was a four-year letter winner and team captain for the Cobra baseball team. He holds a Master of Science from Duquesne University in Sports Leadership.
"I would like to thank Commissioner Britz and the entire SAC staff for allowing me this opportunity," said Stryker. "I am very excited to work for one of the premier conferences in NCAA Division II, and I am excited about helping enhance the student-athlete experience for all of members of the SAC."
He and his wife Tasha, also a Coker graduate (2005), have two daughters, Alice (4) and Harper (7 months).
