Bulldogs roll past LMU to advance to SAC Semifinals
Wingate, N.C.----The third-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs exploded for three first-half goals Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 4-1 victory over sixth-seeded Lincoln Memorial University in the opening round of the South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament at Pride Park. The 'Dogs win their seventh straight, improving to 14-3-1 overall and advancing to the SAC Tourney semifinals Friday in Matthews, N.C. LMU falls to 8-7-3 on the year. The Bulldogs will face No. 2 Catawba in the Tournament Semifinals on November 10th at 2pm.
Carson-Newman defeats Anderson, advancing to Semifinals
Anderson, S.C. – No. 5 Carson-Newman took down the No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in double overtime to advance to the SAC Tournament Semifinals. Felicia Frick netted the game-winning goal for the Eagles for a 2-1 win. Carson-Newman improves to 8-6-3 while the Trojans conclude the season at 8-7-2. The Eagles will face the winner of Game 1, played tomorrow at 3pm, in the Semis.
Catawba punches ticket to SAC Tourney Semifinals with 1-0 win over Limestone
Salisbury, N.C. – The second-seeded Catawba Indians defeated No. 7 Limestone 1-0 as Hannah Dunn scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from Lillie Rusher. The Saints close out the year with an overall record of 3-10-2 while Catawba improves to 16-2-0 and advances to the SAC Tournament Semifinals, facing Wingate at 2pm on November 10th.
The final game of the SAC Tournament Quarterfinals, No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne vs No. 8 Mars Hill, will be played tomorrow in Hickory, N.C. at 3pm.
