HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (4-7-6) was defeated by No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne (14-0-3) by a score of 2-0 Sunday in the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals.
With 21 seconds remaining in the first half of play, the Bears opened the scoring as Neve Duston scored her seventh of the season.
Just 1:01 into the second half, a Mars Hill penalty allowed Ria Acton to double up the Lenoir-Rhyne lead, putting home her third of the season.
Duston led all players with four shots as the Bears outshot Mars Hill, 20-9. Marianne Ross and Zoie Steinkamp led Mars Hill with three shot attempts apiece.
S.A. Phillips made one save in the opening 45 minutes for her second win of the season. Kristin Oliver made five saves in the second half of play. Camryn Miller made nine saves in the loss.
