#4 Women's Soccer advances to fourth straight SAC semis on Dunn's late score

Salisbury, N.C. —- The 4th-ranked and second-seeded Catawba College women's soccer team advanced to the South Atlantic Conference semifinal for the fourth straight year on Saturday afternoon, utilizing an 81st-minute goal from Hannah Dunn to defeat 7-seed Limestone 1-0 at Frock Field.

 

TEAM STATS

- Catawba out-shot Limestone 25-5

- The Catawba Indians held an advantage in shots on goal 5-0

- Catawba took each of the four corner kicks in the match

- Limestone received the lone yellow card of the night

 

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Dunn scored the winner, her third straight game with a goal and fifth in her last five games

- Her 43rd career goal moves her up to solo fourth in program history

- Lillie Rusher provided the assist from the corner kick

- Morgan Delair, Helen Summerell, Bree Ehmer and Alexah Fite also registered shots on goal

- Ashley Hughes got the clean sheet 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Ehmer put the first shot on goal of the game in the 32nd minute

- Summerell and Delair started to get the pressure going on the Limestone keeper, with shots on target in the 40th and 41st minute

 

SECOND HALF

- Dunn broke through for the score on a header off of Rusher's corner in the 81st minute

- The Catawba Indians kept the Saints from putting a shot on target for the entirety of the match

 

UP NEXT

- Catawba advances to the Sportsplex at Matthews to face 3-seed Wingate in the conference semis on Friday at 2 p.m.
