Tusculum’s Stroinski, Catawba’s Tysinger Earn SAC Softball Weekly Awards
After leading their teams to SAC series victories, Tusculum first baseman Kaytlin Stroinski and Catawba pitcher Carley Tysinger have been voted as the conference's Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – After leading their teams to SAC series victories, Tusculum first baseman Kaytlin Stroinski and Catawba pitcher Carley Tysinger have been voted as the conference's Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Stroinski, the SAC Player of the Week, hit .545 with eight RBI as Tusculum swept Lincoln Memorial and Brevard last week to move into the lead in the conference standings. She also drew a pair of walks, helping produce a .688 on-base percentage.
Stroinski opened her week with a monster four-hit, five-RBI performance in a 13-5 over LMU that included a double, a triple and a home run. She then drove in the game-winning run in the second game of the LMU double-header with a bases-loaded walk.
The sophomore stole three bases and scored six runs in TC's four games. She currently leads the Pioneers with a .341 batting average and 28 RBI.

Tysinger, meanwhile, continued her dominant freshman season for Catawba, earning three victories and allowing just a single earned run in 19.2 innings pitched. She had a pair of complete-game wins against Bloomsburg and LMU, striking out a total of 26 batters in the outings while walking only three.
For the week, Tysinger struck out 37 hitters to five walks and allowed seven hits. She leads the SAC with 207 strikeouts and a 1.27 ERA, and is tied for the conference lead in wins with 16.
