Anderson Sets Pace After Opening Round of 2025 SAC Women’s Golf Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Anderson Trojans surged to the top of the leaderboard after a five-under-par 283 in Sunday's opening round of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship, held at The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, S.C. Anderson carries a seven-stroke lead into Monday's second round, ahead of Wingate (+2, 290) and Lincoln Memorial (+4, 292).
The Trojans placed four players inside the top 10, led by Kennedy McGaha's three-under 69, which has her in solo second place. Kennedy Gooding and teammate Aly Francis are tied for fourth at one-under (71), while Zoey Iglesias sits in a five-way tie for seventh after an even-par 72.
Wingate's Noelia Adkins leads the field after firing a tournament-best four-under 68. LMU's Millie Russell is third individually following a two-under 70.
Limestone and Catawba are tied for fourth on the team leaderboard at +11 (299), with Carson-Newman close behind in sixth at +15 (303). Lenoir-Rhyne (+16, 304), Tusculum (+23, 311), Coker (+32, 320), and Newberry (+47, 335) round out the top 10. Mars Hill (+54, 342) and UVA-Wise (+59, 347) are currently in 11th and 12th place, respectively.
The SAC Women's Golf Championship resumes Monday (April 7) with second-round play. With the threat of weather, tee times will tentatively begin at 12:00 p.m. Live scoring is available here.
