Anderson’s Jansky, Mars Hill’s Morris Selected as SAC Softball Weekly Award Winners
After both leading their respective teams to unbeaten records last week, Anderson catcher Laura Jansky and Mars Hill pitcher Taylor Morris have been selected as the SAC Softball Players of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – After both leading their respective teams to unbeaten records last week, Anderson catcher Laura Jansky and Mars Hill pitcher Taylor Morris have been selected as the SAC Softball Players of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Jansky – the SAC Player of the Week - hit .417 with three home runs and 11 RBI last week as Anderson recorded series sweeps of conference foes Brevard and Catawba. She had hits in all four games, including a 2-for-4 performance on Sunday against the Indians that included a home runs and five RBI. The junior also homered in both Brevard games earlier in the week.
Jansky struck out just once in 12 at bats on the week and scored four runs. She had an on-base percentage of .500 and slugged 1.250.
On the season, Jansky is hitting .309 with five home runs and 25 RBI.

Morris earned SAC Pitcher of the Week accolades after going 2-0 with a 0.37 ERA in Mars Hill's league wins over Newberry and Tusculum. Both outings were complete games, making the senior MHC's all-time leader in the category. She also pitched three innings of relief in a non-conference victory over Virginia-Wise.
Morris' first start of the week came on Wednesday at Newbery, where she allowed only one run in seven innings as the Lions won, 6-1. She got the start again on Sunday against Tusculum, pitching the entire nine-inning MHC victory while giving up just a single un-earned run.
On the week, Morris struck out 20 batters while walking only three in 19 innings. The strong week moved Morris into the conference lead in ERA at 1.36.
