The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Lauren Wade has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Oct. 16 - 22, the League announced today.
Wade, a senior from Coleraine, Northern Ireland, recorded the fifth-fastest hat trick in NCAA Division II History. Her fourth-career hat trick and second against Tusculum came almost to the day (Oct. 19, 2016) of her last hat trick against the Pioneers. She scored three goals in less than four minutes to give the Eagles a 3-0 win at Tusculum on October 18. Her first goal came in the 77th minute on a pass from Holly Talbut-Smith 15 yards out to the left post. Exactly two minutes later in the 79th minute, she put a shot from the top of the box past the goalie to give the Eagles a two goal advantage. She completed her hat trick 90 seconds later off a throw to the middle of top of the box. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
