The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Soccer Co-Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Sonja Ballmert and Wingate's Kimmi Moore have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Co-Players of the Week for games played Sept. 11 - 17, the League announced today.
Ballmert, a sophomore from Frankfurt, Germany, picked up the game winning goal in both of Tusculum's victories last week. Her penalty kick in the 47th minute was the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial on September 13. After the Pioneers tied the game in the 85th minute, Ballmert found the back of the net in the 88th minute to give Tusculum the 2-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on September 16. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
Moore, a junior from Hubert, N.C., contributed big in both of Wingate's victories last week. She scored both goals for the Bulldogs as they picked up a 2-0 victory over Queens on September 13. She also set up the game's only goal on September 16, assisting on Colleen Zickert's second half goal to give Wingate a 1-0 victory over Anderson. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
