Mars Hill falls to UVA Wise on road
The Mars Hill men's basketball team (4-15, 1-10 SAC) was defeated by UVA Wise (13-8, 6-6 SAC) by a score of 92-70 Wednesday night.
WISE, Va. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (4-15, 1-10 SAC) was defeated by UVA Wise (13-8, 6-6 SAC) by a score of 92-70 Wednesday night.
The Cavaliers shot nearly 70 percent from the floor and hit 9-of-13 three-point attempts in the first half. Bradley Dean went 8-of-10 and hit all four three-pointers, going off for 22 points. Luke Lawson added 10 points and five rebounds in the half. The Cavaliers led 49-25 after the first 20 minutes of play.
Both Rajuan Conner and Prosper Obidiebube netted six for the Lions while Kory Davis added five. Kendall Davis led the team with three assists.
Mars Hill outscored UVA Wise in the second half, 45-43, hitting over 42 percent of their shots. Trey Belin led the team with 10 points and added four rebounds. Conner pulled down eight rebounds to lead all players in the half.
Calen Lightford led all players with 14 points in the second frame, going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Dean led all players with 25 points, going 9-of-12 on the night. The Cavaliers shot 58 percent on the night and went 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Conner led the Lions with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Obidiebube added 11 points followed by 10 apiece from Belin and Jackson Reid.
Mars Hill returns home on Saturday, February 4 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne at 4 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
