Mars Hill defeated by EHC in 2023 finale

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-9, 0-3 SAC) was defeated by Emory & Henry (4-7, 1-3 SAC) by a score of 80-72 Saturday afternoon.
Emory & Henry led 34-31 after the first 20 minutes of play, hitting nearly 52 percent of their shots from the floor. Jake Moynihan led the Wasps with seven points and three rebounds. Kevin Taylor added seven points.
London Maiden led all players with 10 points and eight rebounds. Kadyn Dawkins added six while the trio of Kory Davis, Kendall Davis, and Ji'lil Michael each added five apiece.
In the second half, despite 15 point efforts by both Dawkins and Kory Davis, the Lions were outscored 46-41. The Wasps hit over 57 percent of their shots from the floor. Moynihan led the team with 12 points.
Moynihan led the Wasps with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Cade Looney, Jalen Leftwich, and Marshall Klug each netted 11 points.
Dawkins led all players with 21 points, adding four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Kory Davis added 20 points and a game-high four assists. Maiden ended the day with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, January 3 when they face UVA Wise on the road. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
