Mars Hill downs North Greenville for second straight win

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (2-1) defeated North Greenville (0-5) by a score of 62-57 Saturday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.
The Lions trailed by one entering the final 10 minutes of play, but Mars Hill opened on an 8-2 run with Maddie Gillie scoring six in the run. Of the Lions' 20 points in the fourth, Gillie netted 12 while Jo Snow capped off the contest, hitting 6-of-8 free throws.
The game was tied at 17 after the first 10 minutes of play. Abi Oates scored 10 for North Greenville to lead her team while Snow scored eight for Mars Hill. The Crusaders shot 50 percent from the floor, hitting 3-of-7 attempts from beyond the arc.
In the lowest scoring quarter of the contest, North Greenville outscored Mars Hill 11-8 to enter the half up by three. Mars Hill topped the Crusaders 17-15 in the third as Zanah Boyd led all players with six points while pulling down three rebounds.
North Greenville shot just over 41 percent from the floor to the Lions' 34 on the afternoon. Gillie led all players with 18 points while Oates led the Crusaders with 17. Hannah Barr posted a well-rounded performance, leading the Lions with eight rebounds, five steals, and five assists while chipping in two points.
Mars Hill returns to the court on Tuesday, November 22 when they take on Young Harris. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
