New Softball Tournament Format Set for 2025

ROCK HILL, S.C. (theSAC.com) -- The South Atlantic Conference has officially released a new format for the 2025 SAC Softball Tournament which was passed by a vote of the head coaches prior to the season. 

The new format will see the first weekend decided in a best-of-three format on campus sites. Teams who earn seeds 1-4 will have the ability to host a 3-game series against seeds 5-8 in the Opening Round which will take place April 25-27. The first game of the series will take place on Friday with a doubleheader set for Saturday and Sunday being left as a rain date. Seed 1 will host seed 8 and so forth. The four winners will advance to the Championship bracket.

The highest remaining seed to move to the Championship bracket will host the weekend which will feature a traditional double elimination set up. The highest seed will take on the lowest seed to advance in the Championship bracket with the two middle seeds playing. The double elimination championship bracket will be on May 2-3 with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
