WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week Announced
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during week four of the 2025 season. Catawba's Kary Hales was named the Player of the Week and Carson-Newman's Lorelei Spradlin was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Hales, a senior from Salisbury, N.C., hit .667 in a six-game week for the Catawba Indians with 14 hits, including three home runs and five doubles with 12 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases. Hales slugged 1.333 on the week, leading Catawba to three wins. Catawba's first baseman hit all three homers in a single day at the Nan Whitley Invitational, hitting two in a loss against Flagler before recording the walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh vs. Converse. Hales leads the SAC so far this season with a .521 batting average
Spradlin, a freshman from Blacksburg, Va., tossed 13.1 innings in the circle for the Eagles and allowed just 10 hits and three runs in those innings. She had a dominant 17:0 strikeout to walk ratio for the week and struck out nine in a win over Davis & Elkins. She followed that up with six strikeouts and no walks with two hits allowed over six innings in an outing against Columbus St.
