11 SAC Student-Athletes Named to 2019 D2CCA Softball All-Southeast Region Teams, Carson-Newman's Fiessinger Earns Player of the Year

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Carson-Newman's Abby Fiessinger was honored as the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Softball All-Southeast Region Player of the Year, with a total of 11 SAC student-athletes collecting first and second team accolades.

Fiessinger, an outfielder, hit .443 this season, adding 10 home runs, batted in 32 runners, and had an .844 slugging percentage. Joining Fiessinger on the first team was Wingate's first baseman Mary Claire Coyne, Lincoln Memorial's Ty-Kella Goins at second, Newberry's shortstop Natalie Willis, Hannah Davis at third base of Newberry, Wingate outfielder Emma Swenson, Anderson's Kayson Boatner as the designated player, Wingate's utility player and pitcher Aubrey Reep, and Carson-Newman pitcher Allison Rager.

Fourteen student-athletes from nine difference schools across District 3 (South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas) were listed.

The first team selections will move on to the All-America ballot. The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.

The voting, nomination, and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
