The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2019 SAC Softball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial is the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champion for the first time in program history, as the Railsplitters finished the SAC portion of their 2019 schedule with 12-8 record. The Railsplitters will be the No. 1 seed in this week's South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship, which will be hosted by Catawba College on April 26-27.
Wingate, Carson-Newman, and Newberry all finished the season with 11-9 records in SAC play. The Bulldogs earn the No. 2 seed after winning a three-way tiebreaker with the Eagles and the Wolves. Wingate and Carson-Newman have 3-1 head-to-head records versus the other two teams, but Wingate went 1-1 against Lincoln Memorial, while Carson-Newman went 0-2. The Eagles are the No. 3 seed based upon their sweep of Newberry, and the Wolves garnered the No. 4 seed.
Anderson and Queens both finished 2019 with an even 10-10 record in the conference. The Trojans swept the two-game series with Queens, making them the No. 5 seed and the Royals No. 6.
Coker and Lenoir-Rhyne round out the tournament as the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds, respectively. While both ended their conference schedule 9-10, the Cobras hold the tiebreaker due to their win over the Bears.
The single elimination 2019 SAC Softball Championship will be played at the Catawba College's Whitley Softball Field in Salisbury, N.C. Games begin on Friday (April 26) at 9 a.m. Below is the Championship schedule.
