Carson-Newman Softball Maintains National Ranking in NFCA Division II Top-25 Coaches Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their 2019 week two poll on Wednesday (Feb. 27). Carson-Newman remained at No. 11 after skyrocketing to national prominence in the week one rankings.
The Eagles have started the season with a perfect 11-0 record, including a sweep of nationally-ranked Young Harris (1-0 and 3-2) last week. The Tennessee team has also completed five shutouts in their wins. Carson-Newman leads the SAC in homeruns (20), sacrifice flies (7), and slugging percentage (.617) in addition to the five shutouts.
Carson-Newman's left-handed pitcher Lacie Rinus was named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Top-50 National Player of the Year Watch List earlier this month.
The 2019 NFCA Division II Top-25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA's eight regions.
