Newberry Sweeps AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played during Jan. 28 through Feb. 3. Newberry collected both player and pitcher accolades with Hannah Davis and Selice Daley, respectively.

A sophomore utility player, Davis crushed four home runs, collecting 10 RBI, in the round-robin with Mercyhurst and Claflin to open the Wolves' 2019 campaign. The Chapin, S.C. native also walked twice and doubled once in her 11 plate appearances. Davis is batting .545, has an on-base percentage of .615, and is slugging a fiery 1.727 after four games. This is Davis's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Daley, a junior right-handed pitcher, picked up two wins for the Wolves in their opening weekend.  The Bluffton, S.C. native struck out 10 batters in 10 innings of work without allowing a single run, relenting just four hits in the span. This is Daley's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
