QUEENS 3, WINGATE 1
Hartsville, S.C.----The Queens University Royals tied the game in the top of the seventh with a solo homer, while getting a two-out two-run single in the top of the ninth en route to a 3-1 victory over Wingate University in the opening round of the 2016 South Atlantic Conference softball tournament. The sixth-seeded Royals improve to 23-25 overall, while the third-seeded Bulldogs fall to 30-15 overall. FULL RECAP
CATAWBA 4, NEWBERRY 1
HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Catawba opened its South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament play with a 4-1 win over Newberry on Thursday afternoon at Byerly Park. The second-seeded Catawba Indians improve to 35-13 and will next face sixth-seeded Queens on Friday at 10 am. Queens upset Wingate 3-1 in nine innings to kick-off the tourney. Newberry drops to 28-21 and will face Wingate in an elimination game on Friday morning. FULL STORY
