Catawba Wins 2015 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Gina Gerone blasted three home runs and Carley Tysinger tossed a complete game to lead the No. 3 seed Catawba Indians to a 7-3 victory over the No. 2 seed Anderson Trojans and the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship.
Gerone led the Indian offensive attack with three homers, five RBIs and three runs scored. Caroline Turner and Natalie Naturile also had a home run and an RBI also had a home run and an RBI each for Catawba.
Tysinger (25-9) threw her fourth complete game of the tournament for the win. She allowed three runs on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
Lauren Rudesheim (18-7) was tagged with the loss for Anderson. She gave up three runs on three hits in an inning of work.
Anderson's Cailiah Niles and Courntey Czentnar each had a home run as well. Niles finished the game 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Czentnar was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
With the win the Indians earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship.
