Four SAC Softball Players Selected to Daktronics All-America Team
The 2013 Daktronics Division II Softball All-America Team was released on Wednesday night, featuring a total of four student-athletes from the SAC.
ROLLA, Mo. – The 2013 Daktronics Division II Softball All-America Team was released on Wednesday night, featuring a total of four student-athletes from the SAC.
Leading the SAC's selections is first-team second baseman Jessica Neidigh of Anderson. Neidigh hit .457 with 26 extra-base hits in 2013, leading the Trojans to a berth in the NCAA Super Regional. She also finished the season with a .507 on-base percentage.
Carson-Newman shortstop Brittany Hefner was named to the Second Team after hitting .451 with 19 home runs and 75 RBI – a number that led the nation and set a conference record. Hefner was selected as the SAC Player of the Year and earn first-team All-America accolades from the NFCA.
Earning a spot on the Third Team was Catawba pitcher Carley Tysinger – the SAC Pitcher and Freshman of the Year. Tysinger went 25-9 for the Indians, finishing with a 1.21 ERA and 324 strikeouts - the most in the nation.
Rounding out the SAC's selections is Anderson first baseman Danielle Swygerg, who hit .398 with eight home runs and 62 RBI this season.
Grand Valley State's Katie Martin was named the Daktronics Player of the Year, while Tampa's Kayla Cox was picked as the Pitcher of the Year.
