Four SAC Softball Players Earn Capital One Academic All-District Honors
The Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team was announced on Thursday, with four student-athletes from the SAC receiving selections to the District 3 squad.
MCLEAN, Va. – The Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team was announced on Thursday, with four student-athletes from the SAC receiving selections to the District 3 squad.
Representing the SAC on the Academic All-District Team are Newberry pitcher Kaylyn Camacho, Mars Hill infielder Robyn Stanek, Lincoln Memorial infielder Sarah Walz and Tusculum outfielder Katie Brennan.
All four student-athletes possess impressive academic accolades, as Camacho has a 3.79 GPA studying graphic design, Stanek carries a 3.92 GPA in biology, Walz has a 3.87 GPA majoring in kinesiology and Brennan boasts a 3.86 GPA studying physical education, health and wellness.
Stanek - a member of the All-SAC First Team - hit .372 this season, which was the fourth-best average in the conference. Camacho, meanwhile, won eight games and finished with a 2.50 ERA, Walz hit .299 with 34 RBI, and Brennan finished with a .290 average, five home runs and 36 RBI.
In order to be selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must have legitimate athletic credentials, possess at least a 3.50 GPA and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
Each member of the All-District Team is now eligible for selection to the Capital One Academic All-America Team.
