Four SAC Teams Earn Spots in NCAA Softball Regional Rankings
Four teams from the SAC have earned positions in this week’s NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Region rankings, led by second-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne.
INDIANAPOLIS – Four teams from the SAC have earned positions in this week's NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Region rankings, led by second-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne.
The regional rankings are the official resource used by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee in the NCAA Tournament selection process. The championship bracket will be announced on the morning of May 6.
Lenoir-Rhyne is No. 2 this week behind top-ranked Armstrong after winning last weekend's Food Lion SAC Softball Championship title. The Bears finished the regular season 35-14 overall and went 11-7 in conference games. L-R was also ranked 14th in the nation in Wednesday's NFCA national poll release.
Anderson, which finished as runners-up in the SAC regular-season standings at 12-6, is No. 6 in the regional rankings. AU is 37-13 overall.
Wingate is No. 8 in the rankings, followed by Catawba at No. 10. WU closed the regular season with a 32-20-1 record, and Catawba is 32-19 overall.
Wingate finished 9-9 in the SAC, while Catawba went 10-8 and reached the title game of the SAC Championship.
