Four SAC Softball Teams In First NCAA Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS -- The first NCAA Division II softball regional rankings were released Wednesday, with four South Atlantic Conference teams ranked among the top 10 in the Southeast Region.
Lenoir-Rhyne University is ranked second, behind North Georgia, which has been the top-ranked team in the NFCA national poll for the past five weeks.
Wingate University is ranked fifth. Carson-Newman College is seventh, while Mars Hill College is eighth.
Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament, competing in 16 four-team regional tournaments, beginning May 14. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.
In the Southeast Region, tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
