Wingate’s Heather Winchester, Brittany Blankenship Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Wingate's Heather Winchester (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Brittany Blankenship (Midlothian, Va.) have been named the South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
Wingate outfielder Heather Winchester hit .636 for the week, racking up seven hits in 11 at-bats while leading Wingate to a pair of SAC doubleheader sweeps. The senior had three doubles while driving in two runs and scoring three times. She was 2-for-2 with a double in game one against Catawba. She was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs in game one at LMU. She also had an RBI and run scored in the second game Saturday.

Wingate pitcher Brittany Blankenship turned in a 3-0 week with a 1.45 ERA, leading the Bulldogs to a perfect 4-0 record. Blankenship fired complete games in both her starts. She also had two relief appearances, picking up a win. On the week, she went 19.1 innings while allowing only four runs and striking out seven. The Midlothian, Va. native did not allow more than two runs in any of her outings.
