Newberry’s Jarrell, Edwards Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Newberry College's Katelin Edwards and Amy Jarrell have been named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week, league officials announced today.
Freshman Katelin Edwards picked up four wins on the week for the Lady Indians, including three complete games. The Greer, South Carolina native surrendered only four runs in 25 innings pitched, striking out 25. She fired a two-hitter in a 2-1 win over USC-Aiken, and finished the week with a 0.84 ERA.
Lady Indians' outfielder Amy Jarrell hit .500 for the week, leading Newberry to a 5-2 record. The junior drove in eight runs, including the game-winner with an RBI single in the SAC opener against Tusculum. She finished the week with nine hits, scoring seven runs.

Edwards and Jarrell are the second and third Newberry players to earn SAC Player of the Week honors this season, following Kat Hammond's Week One award. Both players win the award for the first time in their career.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
