Lenoir-Rhyne’s Pushard, Carson-Newman’s Heim Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne's Karie Pushard and Carson-Newman's Zoe Heim have been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced today.
Catcher Karie Pushard (Harrisburg, N.C.) led the Bears to a 7-1 week, batting .481 for the week (13-of-27). The senior belted three home runs on the week, including a two-run shot in a 7-6 win over Francis Marion. She added a five RBIs and a two-run blast in a 14-0 win over Chowan, finishing the week with 14 RBIs.
Carson-Newman pitcher Zoe Heim (Gallatin, Tenn.) earned Player of the Week honors after a 2-0 week, in which she allowed only one run in 12 innings pitched. The senior right-hander struck out 17 of the 44 batters she faced in wins over North Greenville and Erskine. She surrendered only seven hits in her two appearances, and only one for extra bases.
