Lenoir-Rhyne’s Karie Pushard, Newberry’s Stephanie Monette Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne's Karie Pushard was chosen as the league's Softball Player of the Week and Newberry's Stephanie Monette was dubbed the South Atlantic Conference's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
A junior catcher, Pushard hit .450 (9-for-20) for No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne last week. Pushard garnered one home run and four RBIs in leading the Bears to a 5-1 week.
A native of Harrisburg, N.C., Pushard hit safely in five of L-R's six games last week.
She had five hits in the Bears' doubleheader sweep of conference foe Wingate last Friday, acquiring the game-winning runs with a two-run home run in L-R's 5-3 victory in game two.

Monette went 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA from the circle last week for the Lady Indians.
In her 19.2 innings in the circle for Newberry last week, Monette held opposing batters to a .240 batting average and fanned 11 batters.
Monette threw a five-hit complete game shutout against Lenoir-Rhyne last Wednesday to tally her school record tying fifth shutout of the season.
The Conway, S.C. native now has 15 wins on the season.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors.
