Presbyterian’s Stewart, Lenoir-Rhyne’s O’Connor Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Presbyterian College outfielder Erin Stewart was chosen as the league's Player of the Week and Lenoir-Rhyne's Meredith O'Connor was dubbed the South Atlantic Conference's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Stewart hit .500 for the Lady Blue Hose last week, going 4-for-8 from the plate in PC's 4-0 week.
The Marion, S.C. native collected two of her four hits on the first two home runs of her career with both home runs serving as game winners for PC. The sophomore acquired the first home run of her career in game two of a twinbill with USC Aiken on Tuesday, March 20 at the PC Softball Complex. The two-run shot proved to be all the offense the Lady Blue Hose would need in the 2-0 victory over the Lady Pacers.

The Marion High School product's second home run of the week and her career came against Catawba in PC's game one win over the Indians on Saturday, March 24. With the score 1-0 in favor of Presbyterian, Stewart hit a home run in the bottom of the second inning to give PC a 2-0 lead in the eventual 2-1 Lady Blue Hose win.
Junior Meredith O'Connor was almost perfect last week from the pitcher's circle for the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. The Appalachian State University transfer was 3-0 on the week with a 0.00 earned run average.
The Charlotte, N.C native allowed only three hits in the three wins and fanned 38 batters.
A product of Myers Park High School, O'Connor started off her week for L-R with a two-hit, 14-strikeout performance against conference foe Tusculum in L-R's game two 7-0 victory on Thursday, March 22.
O'Connor then pitched her second perfect game of the 2007 campaign in Lenoir-Rhyne's game two win over Brevard on Saturday, March 24, striking out 16 Tornados in the process.
O'Connor concluded the week with a one-hitter against Belmont-Abbey in game two of a doubleheader on Sunday, March 25, striking out eight to improve to 16-1 on the season.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors.
