Lenoir-Rhyne’s Starnes, Hanes Sweep Softball Player Of Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne swept the weekly South Atlantic Conference Softball awards as L-R's Brooke Starnes was chosen as the league's Player of the Week and teammate Casey Hanes was dubbed the conference's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
A senior shortstop, Starnes hit .526 (10-for-19) last week. Starnes also belted two home runs and batted in five runs in a 5-1 week for No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Conover, N.C. native had multiple hit contests in four of the six contests, starting the week off with two hits, including a two-run home run in L-R's 9-1 game one victory over No. 11 Georgia College & State last Thursday.

Starnes then ended the week by providing Lenoir-Rhyne's only run on a solo home run in a 1-0 victory over No. 15 Francis Marion on Sunday at the South Carolina Fast Pitch Classic in Spartanburg, S.C.
Hanes went 3-1 last week from the pitcher's circle for Lenoir-Rhyne. The sophomore did not allow an earned run in 21.1 innings pitched.
A native of Richmond, Va., Hanes, who suffered her only loss last week in a nine-inning 1-0 loss to No. 5 Columbus State, also fanned 30 batters last week.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors.
