Wingate’s Megan McPhail, Mars Hill’s Paige Brantley Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Wingate's Megan McPhail was named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week and Mars Hill's Paige Brantley was chosen as the league's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
A senior second baseman, McPhail helped lead Wingate to a 4-2 record last week, including doubleheader sweeps of Montreat and Limestone. McPhail hit .583 (7-for-12) in the six games for the Bulldogs.
The Wade, N.C. native also collected six RBIs and stole one base.
Brantley went 2-0 last week for Mars Hill from the pitchers circle, scattering eight hits in 11.1 innings pitched. She aided her own cause in Mars Hill's extra-inning win over Lincoln Memorial, driving in two runs in the seventh inning to send the game to extra innings.

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Brantley fanned 10 batters last week.
