Newberry’s Courtney Lindler, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Meredith O’Connor Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Newberry's Courtney Lindler was named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week and Lenoir-Rhyne's Meredith O'Connor was chosen as the league's Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Newberry's leadoff hitter, Lindler ended last week by extending her hitting streak to 14 games as she has hit safely in all of Newberry's 14 games this season. The shortstop has now had a hit in 18-of-19 contests dating back to the 2006 season.
The Irmo, S.C. native batted .533 last week, collecting 14 RBIs on 16 hits. In Newberry's eight games last week, the senior had multiple hit games in six, including two three-hit performances in the second games of twinbills with Mount Olive and Pfeiffer.

O'Connor went 2-0 from the pitcher's circle last week for Lenoir-Rhyne. The Charlotte, N.C. native held hitters to five hits in 13 innings pitched to tally a 0.54 ERA. She also fanned 27 batters on the week.
The junior started the week off by striking out 13 and giving up just two hits in a win over Glenville State. The Appalachian State transfer followed that up with a two-hit, complete game victory in L-R's 4-1 victory over her former team Sunday afternoon at Bears field.
The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors.
