Mars Hill's Plougmand and Coker's Tricker Named SAC WePlayed Sports Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week six of the 2024 season. Mars Hill's Peter Plougmand was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Coker's Matty Tricker earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Plougmand, a senior from Odense, Denmark, brings home his third SAC Offensive Player of the Week award this season. The forward had a monster week which included four goals and an assist for nine points. In a 5-1 win over Carson-Newman, Plougmand had a hat trick and added an assist for seven points. He added the Lions lone goal in a tough 2-1 loss at No. 17 Wingate.   

Tricker, a senior from Ipswich, England, led No. 8 Coker to a 2-0 week with wins over Francis Marion and Lenoir-Rhyne. Tricker was crucial in both of those matches, leading a defensive line that allowed only one goal. On top of his defensive efforts, he added a first-half goal that ended up being the difference in the 3-1 win over LR on Saturday. Tricker and the Cobras are 9-1 on the season and sit in second place in the conference standings.
